This weekend was the MoCCA Artfest. The incredibly talented Marianne Petit had her Participatory Book Series on display at the fest, including Working Nine to Five: Volume 2, which features a story I wrote, “The
Concession Stand,” about my very first job, which was at a movie theater concession stand. Marianne did a brilliant job illustrating my and other people’s stories, so as soon as she puts them online, I’ll link to them.
For those of you who don’t know my cousin Jeff, you’re missing out. He’s a fantastic husband, dad, son, brother, friend, and (when he’s not making fun of you) cousin. He’s always there for you when you need him and makes you laugh when you least expect it.But sometimes Jeff doesn’t even have the energy to do the things he wants to, because he suffers from hepatitis C. Hepatitis C is an illness that affects the liver, and the liver plays a major role in many functions of the body. As of now, there is no known cure for hepatitis C.
I’m pretty tired of hepatitis affecting Jeff’s life. Which is why I’m asking you to help us in the Walk It Off 5K Liver Wellness Walk & Fun Run October 13th at Montrose Harbor in Chicago. This event supports the American Liver Foundation’s Illinois Chapter as part of the nation’s leading non-profit organization for promoting liver health and disease prevention. Proceeds fund research, education and advocacy for those affected by liver related diseases, including hepatitis.
The exciting part of this Wellness Walk & Fun Run is that we can all help Jeff together!
